INNOVATE or DIE!
"Innovate or Die. Drucker",
The Economist, Sept. 25, 1999
Is it that serious?
Looking at the matter from a one or
few year times, this might be not very accurate. Yet looking at the matter from
few decades time span we must take this note seriously.
Look at yahoo and next AOL (American
online), names that once thought to dominate their market forever and suddenly
new comer’s namely Google arrived with a lot of innovations. The rest of the
story is history. Now Google are aware that they don’t repeat the same mistake
of their rivals’ and just to wait for the next comers with better innovation.
Google is on a steady fast track of innovations. It is a non-stop matter. It is
a top priority issue. The old say “focus on your core function and finish first
your top priorities” is a dead statement. Innovation must be in top agenda of
all smart executives who are not planning that their organization to die.
Innovation must be the driver for any core functions and priorities.
Actually even cost cutting as
example if it is the priority then the organizations best interest is to look
for Innovative ideas to cost cutting. Innovation is not a luxury item that
should be considered only in prosperity stages.
It is the same excuses we hear from
top executives. If they are in startup stage they say we have establishment
priority. If they are in prosperous times they say why we need Innovation.
Our region needs smart, brave and
Innovative executives to take their organization to the only sustainable
competitiveness element “The Innovation”
